The Image of Our Creator

On the sixth day of creation, it was God’s idea to hand form man into the image of God. The Trinity agreed, and Emmanuel blew the breath of life into the nostrils of man, and man became a living soul, dust and deity.

Before long, sin entered the world of paradise. It became paradise destroyed and sin began to mar, mask, blemish the image of God, and man became, at best, a distant and poor reflection, but God had a plan.

After a few thousand years of preparation, God bathed man in the sin-forgiving blood of God at the cross. The old man had to die for the plan to work and to be buried in a grave of water. Then springing forth, he once again was the “Imago Dei,” the image of God—Our new self in the knowledge of and in the image of the Creator.

When we look in the mirror, when those close to us see us, is our image that of our God? Do we reflect compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, and forgiveness?
