Lost In Time

Time is an interesting thing. The schemata of our mind is wired to understand time and space. We define our existence by time and space.

Time is the one place that the seven billion of us on planet earth are all born equal today. Yet for some, today, time will drag and the day will seem never to end. For others, they will run out of time and be late everywhere. Some are a slave to time, and others master time and are in control.

Paul the Apostle gives us direction to redeem the time and instructions in how to do that by planning ahead and orchestrating the hours ahead so as to use every minute to our advantage. The person who is always late will never understand that. Paul says, “Take time to pray, so you will have time.” Then, “Let God be your front man and open doors for you.” He closes the thoughts with “Be wise in how you treat outsiders.”

Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving; meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains, that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.

Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one. (Colossians 4:2-6, NKJV, emphasis added)

We must live with time until we reach that City Four Square and then time will be no more. Time is God’s gift to mankind; how we use it is our gift to God. Let us redeem the time.
