“Must Jesus bear the cross alone and all the world go free;
no, there is a cross for everyone, and there is a cross for me.”
I just wonder how many of the adults passing by would have thought of helping Jesus bear the cross. A little girl says in her mind, “I can help”; so, she grabs a “root and tugs”…
How often the Church rejects a child’s offer to help at 6 or 7 years of age, then wonders where they are in their teens and twenties, when they are too busy to help since you rejected them when they were willing. Work is a learned trait and characteristic. You learn to work by being assigned jobs when a child, taught how to do them, and corrected when not done right, then praised when accomplished correctly.
