The Trail To Tomorrow
 
Some needs must be handled today. The Psalm 42 deer awakens thirsty and knows the desert water brook is two mountains away, and he pants for the water brook as he runs towards it. There is a cheetah that awakens and knows he must be faster than the slowest deer if he is to eat today. There are daily needs to be met.
 
As with the animal kingdom, we humans have daily needs. However, Solomon expressed it well: “God has placed eternity in the mind of men.” Now, for us, eternity always begins with tomorrow. Being Imago Dei, we are created to create. To create demands dreams, visions, and imagination as well as a power source. That brings us to today’s scripture, Ephesians 3, “20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”
 
With our asking and imagination we go to work to build our future and those Ephesians 2:10 projects that God has in mind. That future cannot be built just by satisfying our daily needs.
