A Job for a Masterpiece
Paul writes in Ephesians two that we are saved by grace though through faith*real living, obeying-Jesus faith. Then adds we are not saved by works of the law. Then in verse ten he points out we are saved to do good works which God had planned for us: “For we are Gods workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
The word translated “workmanship” here is Greek for literary or creative masterpiece. In reality, God is calling us His masterpieces. Also note, God prepared and planned in advance our assigned jobs. Thus God knew before we were born our assignments and the skills necessary to accomplish them. In Job 31:15, Psalm 139 and Jeremiah 1, we are told that God is involved in our creative birth process. David says in Psalm 139, “God knits us together in the womb.” I take that to mean God custom designs us for the planned assigned tasks. When mama and daddy plant a fertilized age in mama’s womb, there is DNA representing both mama’s family and daddy’s family. This is known as the human genome that consists of 23 pairs or 46 chromosomes, in turn are made up of six billion chemical DNA base pairs. Thus, one can visualize a human genome as an encyclopedia of 46 volumns writen with six billion letters. With the fertilized egg, all times two. In the MIT and Harvard creative plan of CRISPR we have learned to go to any page of the genome and select or change any base pairs. I am sure we are not smarter than God; so, God in His knitting his masterpiece can hand pick from twelve billion chemical DNA base pairs to create each of His masterpieces. So each creation is hand designed for the coming job planned in Ephesians two-ten.
Note: to bring the human, created masterpiece into full harmony with God, that is, “We are…created, or re-created, in Christ Jesus”, this brings us into the new birth, that is, of being born again, making us obedient to Jesus’ plans.
