Two thousand years later, the historically marked tomb is still empty. Since that time, billions of Christians have been buried in tombs, ashes scattered, devoured by enemies, and left to the ravages of the natural world. In the Christian grave site is but the dust of a worn-out tabernacle that was once was indwelt by an image of God. The soul and spirit that were really the image of God had been angel transported to the throne of God as the body drifted into what the world calls death.
There is a day in the future, known only to the Trinity, that human dust will respond to heaven’s trumpet sound and loud cry and in the twinkling of an eye an eternal body will form. Being drawn to Jesus and being reunited with the original soul and spirit that has been with God. Then, we will live eternally with the Lord. The open tomb of Jesus, our guarantee that our tomb will one day be empty.
